Living With a New Limb
How do you feel when you suddenly lose a part of yourself? Even more so, how would you feel when you suddenly lost a physical part of yourself? Everyone experiences this differently. Some are forced to go through such a life changing moment because of external forces such as as a traffic accident or fighting in a war for example. Some choose voluntarily for an amputation to relieve them for otherwise chronic pain, but still, the decision is never an easy one. In fact, many studies have been performed to gauge how people feel and how prosthetics are perceived by their (future) users.
CREATING THE 'AUGMENTED WORKFORCE' PROGRAM
In a recent study it was shown that the Netherlands has a significant problem with providing a stable job for people with physical disabilities. Not only does their income suffer, their social isolation takes a heavy toll on the human psyche. Liberty in Augmentation works on changing this.
VISITING ORTHOPEDIC CLINICS THROUGHOUT THE NETHERLANDS
The Liberty in Augmentation Foundation will go on a series of visits throughout the Netherlands to check on the current state of affairs and developments Orthopedic Clincs are making. Eventually, a detailed analysis can be made to draw conclusions on what needs to improve and what is going well.
RESPONSE TO MADISON JOURNAL TODAY
The Liberty in Augmentation Foundations responds to the opinion of editor Zach Mitcham of the Madison Journal Today about his thoughts on prosthetics and the developments of the future. This is an important moment for us to show where we stand on these issues. The director responds to these statements himself.
